What Is WOW (World of Warcraft)

WOW is short for World of Warcraft. It's a MMORPG (Massively Multiplier On-line Role Playing Game). It means that you can only play it On-line with a lot of other people, there is no Single player version. There is also a monthly subscription fee and initial game cost.

Technically speaking WOW is not a game its a client. You need to connect to a server with you user name and password if you want to play. So you can play your own account from any computer in the world that has latest version of WOW installed.

To have an account you need to get Original WOW for about $20, Burning Crusade for another $20 and Wrath of the Lich King at $30-$40. All of them have CD keys that you need to enter when creating an account. YOU MUST HAVE ALL TREE GAMES TO PLAY. Once you enter those CD keys into your account your account becomes upgraded and the CD keys are now useless.

The way these online games work is they progress, so originally people played Original World of Warcraft (also known as Vanilla WOW) after a few years a new expansion Burning Crusade (BC) came out and everyone had to buy it if they wanted to keep playing and enjoy new and exciting things. Couple of years after the latest instalment Wrath of the Lich King (Lich King) hit the shelves and same as BC if you wanted to keep the adventures going you needed to buy it.

Total Cost is about $70-$80 plus you get your first month of play for free for the monthly subscription check this post.
